Puhnonary tuberculosis, refers to pulmonary consumption in TCM. It is acontagious bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis ( TB ).The lungs are primarily involved, but the infection can spread to other organs. The disease is characterized by cough, hemoptysis, mild fever in the afternoon, night sweating and emaciation and treated with herbs for reinforcing qi and blood.
Treatment
1. Yongquan (KI1)
Acupoint application with herbs is used once a day for three days for sudden emptysis due to tuberculosis. A piece of garlic (Mashed), 6 grams of sulfur powder, 3 grams of cinnamon powder, and 3 grams borneol powder are mixed. Ten grams mixed herbs are put on the point on both sides and fixed with adhesive plaster for 3-5 hours. The skin of the point should be oiled with vegetable oil to prevent blistering.
2. Yinxi (HT6)
Yinxi (HT6) on both sides are moderately stimulated with fine needle, (or stimulated by moxibustion with 3-5 moxa cones ) till the patient feels soreness or/and tingling in the palm and the root of the fingers and then the needles are removed.
Note
Acupuncture is mainly used as adjunct therapy for treating night sweat and hemoptysis.
