Acupuncture Point Jiuwei (CV15)
Location:
Draw a line connecting xiphoid process and umbilicus, a spot on this line, 1/8 apart from xiphoid process, or 7/8 apart from umbilicus. Or, 1 cun vertically above JuqueCV14(Juque (CV14) Front-Mu Point of the Heart).
Function:
Tranquilizing the mind and resolving phlegm, normalizing the functions of the stomach, and depressing upward-reverse flow of qi.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin subcutaneous tissue-linea alba-transverse fascia-extraperitoneal fat tissue-parietal peritoneum.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branch of the 7th thoracic nerve.In the deep layer, there are the branches of the anterior branch of the 7th thoracic nerve.
Indications:
Pain in the precordial region and the chest, nausea, mental disoders, and Epilepsy.
Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Dazhui for treatment of epilepsy; and with Fenglong (ST 40) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of gastritis.
Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local distention and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply, or else the needle would penetrate the posterior the parietal peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral peritoneum and the left lobe of liver by its tip
and cause an injury to liver.
