Acupuncture Point Jianli (CV11)
Location:
Lie supinely; draw a line connecting xiphoid process and umbilicus, a spot on this line, 5/8 apart from xiphoid process, or 3/8 apart from umbilicus. Or, 1 cun vertically above XiawanCV10(Xiawan (CV10)).
Function:
Strengthenign the stomach and spleen, and promoting digestion.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin subcutaneous tissue-linea alba-transverse fascia-extraperitoneal fat tissue-parietal peritoneum.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branch of the 8th thoracic nerve and the tributaries of the superficial epigasteic vein.In the deep layer, there are the branches of the anterior branch of the 8th thoracic nerve.
Indications:
Stomachache, vomiting, abdominal distention, borborygmus, Edema, and anorexia.
Prescription:
Combined use with Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of chronic enteritis; with Futu (LI 18) for treatment of phrenospasm; and with Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of fullness in the chest.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to needling response: local and distention and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply or perform lifting, thrusting and ywirling repeatedly, or else the needle would penetrate the posterior the parietal peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral
peritoneum and the gastric wall by its tip and injure the gastric wall.
