(1) Drug Therapy
Internal Medicine:
1) Dampness and Heat in the Intestine and Stomach
Therapeutic Methods: To clear away heat and remove dampness, regulate qi and relieve diarrhea.
Prescription: Modified Gechen Qin Lian Tang.
2) Cold and Dampness Blocking the Middle Energizer
Therapeutic Methods: To disperse cold and remove dampness, regulate middle energizer and relieve diarrhea.
Prescription: Modified Huoxiang Zhengqi Powder.
3) Food Stagnating in the Stomach and Intestine
Therapeutic Methods: To help digestion and relieve stagnation, normalize the function of the stomach and subdue the adverse.
Prescription: Modified Bao He Wan
4) Deficiency of Spleen and Stomach
Therapeutic Methods: To invigorate the spleen and regulate qi, normalize the function of the stomach and relieve diarrhea.
Prescription: Modified Shen Bei Powder.
5) Liver Qi Attacking the Spleen
Therapeutic Methods: To depress the liver and strengthen the spleen, regulate qi and relieve diarrhea.
Prescription:Tongxie Yangfang is the main prescription.
6) Declination of Kidney Yang
Therapeutic Methods: To warm the kidney, strengthen the spleen, induce astringency and relieve diarrhea.
Prescription: Flavored Sishen Wan .
External Medicine:
1) Keep the hot water from the shower rinse the navel when taking bath which can warm the stomach and intestine and prevent from the diarrhea due to deficiency and cold. Or lie on the bed and place the hot towel on the navel.
2) Mix the Yunnan Baiyao with the 75% alcohol into the paste and apply it around the navel after the routine sterilization of the local area; then cover it with the asepsis gauze and fix with the adhesive plaster; change it after 24 hours. It can treat the diarrhea and help the stool formed in a day.
3) People can treat the disease with the routine fluid infusion, electrolyte, antivirus and the Dioctahedral smectite; besides, grind the cinnamon, rhizoma coptidis, dadices saussureae, fructus aurantii ad liquorice into the powder and mix it with the vinegar into the paste; apply it on the Shenque and then cover it with the asepsis gauze and fix with the adhesive plaster; keep it on for 8-12 hours and take it once daily. And 3-5 days is a course of treatment.
(2) Massage Therapy
Selecting of points: main point: the point of diarrhoea; adjunct point: the point of the stomach and intestine which is the most pain spot in the center of the palm; and usually the left hand for men and the right hand for women.
1) Manipulation: Knead the points in the direction of clockwise with the thumb pulp or the finger tip or massages stick of heavy strength; each point for 2-3 seconds and go on massaging after an interval of 2-3 seconds; totally for 6 times and 5-10 minutes; the disease will be cured after a treatment for 3-15 minutes and the symptoms of the abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting will disappear after the treatment.
2) Zusanli (ST 36)
The problem of the abdominal pain, diarrhea and the dyspepsia is related the acupoint of the Zusanli (ST 36); so massage the Zusanli frequently is helpful for keeping fit. People can press the Zusanli when take rest, have classes and take meetings to strength the constitution and prevent the diseases.
3) Weizhong (BL 40)
People can press or take cupping on the acupoint of Weizhong (BL 40) after the pricking for bloodletting when the acute gastroenteritis attacking; and the point locates on the right middle of the popliteal space at the back of the knee.
(3) Guasha Therapy
1) Treatment Method
Selecting of points: Zhongwan, Weishu (BL21), Pishu (BL20), Neiguan (PC6) and Zusanli. Quchi can be added for the people with fever; Hegu can be added for the people with headache and dizzy; Chengshan (BL57) and Weizhong (BL 40) can be added for the people with twitching.
2) Manipulation: Apply the scraping oil on the effected area after the routine sterilization; firstly, scrape from Fengfu to Dazhui on the neck; then mainly scrape the Zhongwan, Weishu, Pishu, Neiguan, Zusanli until the skin turns red and the spots of blood stasis and toxin are gained.
(4) Cupping Therapy
Acupoints selected: Dazhui, Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21), Sanjiaoshu (BL22), Dachangshu (BL25), Tianshu (ST25), Zusanli (ST 36), Shangjuxu (ST 37)
Methods:
(1) Cupping: you should adopt cupping to suck cups on the sides of Tianshu for 10 minutes after flash of fire and then cup the acupoints of Dazhui Weishu Dachangshu Sanjiaoshu Shangjuxu and Shangjuxu. Or else, you could adopt cupping method of air pump.
(2) Cupping of venesection: after the disinfection of the acupoints of Dazhui, Pishu (BL20), Weishu (BL21), Zusanli (ST 36), Shangjuxu (ST 37), you should prick them with three-edged needles for 2-3 times and then apply cupping to the acupuncture point after flash of fire.
(5) Foot Massage
Basic Reflection Zone: Stomach, pancreas, duodenum, small intestine, large intestine, anus, Zhixie.
Related Reflection Zone: Adrenal gland, the nerve plexus in the abdominal cavity, kidney, ureter, bladder, and the reflection zone urethra.
Symptom Reflection Zone: The reflection zones of spleen, cerebel brainstem, liver, gallbladder, Zusanli (ST 36), Shangjuxu (ST 37), and Xiajuxu (ST39).
Manipulation: Massage the feet with moderate strength to regulate and relax the body; massage the first two reflection zones with heavy strength and massage the reflection zones of the stomach, pancreas, duodenum, small intestine, large intestine, anus and Zhixie. Take the massage gently at the beginning and increase the strength gradually. If the diarrhea is serious, people should take massage on the reflection of the intestine gently and for less times; massage with heavy strength for the reflection zones of the spleen, kidney, cerebel brainstem, the nerve plexus in the abdominal cavity, liver and the gallbladder.
People should mainly massage the stomach meridians of the foot yangming on the crus especially the points of the Zusanli, Shangjuxu and Xiajuxu; people can knead the abdomen and mainly massage the Sanwan when the attack of the nausea, vomiting and the stomach pain.
