Acute enteritis is an acute inflammation which is caused by the infection of animalcule such as the bacteria, virus and so on; it is a common and frequently-occur disease. The symptoms of this disease include abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, and so on; there are even the dehydration, foul-up of the electrolyte, shock, etc for the patients with worse conditions. If it occurs with the acute gastritis at the same time, that is also called acute gastroenteritis. Acute gastroenteritis usually occurs in the summer and autumn. The gastroenteritis can be divided into the types of dampness-heat, cold-dampness and stagnation according to the cause and different constitution in TCM. It falls into the categories of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cholera, intestinal colicky disease, prostration syndrome, etc. in TCM.
