Acupuncture Point Chengjiang (CV24)
Location:
Proper sitting with one's back propped; in the depression at the centre of groove on the midpoint of the line connecting lower lip and tip of chin.
Function:
Removing wind and dredging the collaterals, tranquilizing the mind and relieving thirst.
Regional Anatomy:
Chengjiang (CV24) Skin subcutaneous tissue-orbicular muscle of moyth-depressor muscle of lower lip-mental muscle.
There are the mental nerve of the inferior alveolar nerve and the mental artery and vein in this area.
Indications:
Facial puffiness, swelling of the gums, toothache, salivation, mental disorders, and deviation of the eyes and mouth.
Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Shuigou and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of collapse; with Acupuncture Single Point Lianquan for treatment of salivation; with Weizhong (BL 40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point) for treatment of epistaxis; with Jiache (ST6) for treatment of infantile tetanus; and with Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point), Weizhong (BL 40), Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), Pangguangshu (BL 28), and Dadun (LR 1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of incontinence of urine.
Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 1-1.5 cun depth; needling response: local distention and pain; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
