Acupuncture Extra Point Bafeng (EX-LE10)
Location:
Sit upright or lie supinely; at the end of fissure between each of the toes, 8 points total.
Function:
Dredging the collaterals and regulating the circulation of blood.
Regional Anatomy:
The layer anatomy of BafengEXLE10 (EX-LE 10) between the great and 2nd toes is the same as that in XingjianLR2(Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point). The layer anatomy of BafengEXLE10 (EX-LE 10) between the 2nd and 3rd toes is the same as that in NeitingST44(Neiting (ST44) Ying-Spring Point). The layer anatomy of BafengEXLE10(EX-LE10) between the 4th and little toes is the same as that in XiaxiGB43(XiaXi (GB43) Ying-Spring Point), yer anatomy of BafengEXLE10 (EX-LE10) between the 3rd ahe 4th toes is skin-subcutaneous tissue-between tendons of long and short extensor muscles of 3rd and 4th toes-between heads of 3rd and 4th metatarsal bones.
In the superficial layer, there are the dorsal digital nerve of the foot. In the deep layer, there are the dorsal digital artery from the dorsal metatarsal artery, and digital veins to the dorsal metatarsal vein.
Indications:
Beriberi, toe pain, redness and swelling of the dorsum of the foot, and weakness of the lower extremities.
Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of numbeness of the lower extremities.
Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely to 0.5-0.8 cun deep towards the dorsum of the foot or prick to cause bleeding; needling response: local distension and numbness, radiating towards the toe; moxibustion: using 1-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
