Acupuncture Extra Point Jingbailao (EX-HN15)
Location:
Sit upright with one's head inclined slightly forword or lie prostrate; firstly, locate DazhuiGV14(Dazhui (GV14)), 2 cun above and 1 cun lateral to DazhuiGV14(GV14).
Function:
Nourishing the lungs, relieving spasm of the tendons and dredging the collaterals.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trapezius muscle-superior posterior serratus muscle-splenius muscle of head and neck-semispinal muscle of head-multifidus muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the 4th and 5th cervical nerves. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the posterior branches of the 4th and 5th cervical nerve.
Indications:
Cough, Asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis, stiff-neck, and whooping cough.
Prescription:
Combined use with LiequeLU7 (Lieque (LU7) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point), KongzuiLU6 (Kongzui (LU6) Xi-Cleft Point), ShousanliLI10 (Shousanli (LI 10)), YujiLU10 (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point), ZhongfuLU1 (Zhongfu (LU1)), GeshuBL17 (Geshu (BL17)) for treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis; with TianjingTE10 (Tianjing (TE 10)), ZhoujianEXUE1 (EX-UE1) for treatment of lymphoid tuberculosis; and with FeishuBL13 (Feishu (BL 13)), ZhongwanCV12 (Acupuncture Single Point Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach) for treatment of cough with bloody sputum.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-1 cun deep or obliquely to 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local distension and soreness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
