Acupuncture Extra Point Haiquan (EX-HN11)
Location:
Sit upright, open one's mouth, roll up one's tip of tongue to make it posteriorly; at the midpoint of the frenulum linguae sublingually, somewhat posterior to the midway between JinjinEXHN12(EX-HN12) andYuyeEXHN13(EX-HN13).

Function:
Dispelling heat and wind.

Regional Anatomy:
Mucosa-submucous tissue-lingual muscle.
There are the lingual nerve from the mandibular nerve, the hypoglossal nerve, the nervous fibres of the tympanic cord from the facial nerve, the deep lingual artery from the lingual artery, and the deep lingualveins to the lingual vein in this area.

Indications:
Swelling of the tongue, double tongue, weakness of the tongue, acute gastroenteritis, Diabetes, and pharyngitis.

Prescription:
Combined use with ShixuanEXUE11 (EX-UE11), JinjinEXHN12 (EX-HN12) for treatment of swelling of the tongue and double tongue; and with ShaoshangLU11 (Shaoshang (LU11) Jing-Well Point), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI 4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of swelling and pain of the throat.

Methods:
Insert the needle oblique 0.3-0.5 cun deep. The curative effect may be better if the patient experience an electric-shock sensation in the lower lip.
