Acupuncture Extra Point Yiming (EX-HN14)
Location:
Sit upright with one's head inclined slightly forword; firstly, locate YifengTE17 (Yifeng (TE17)), 1 cun posterior to YifengTE17 (TE17), on the anteroinferior side of mastoid process.

Function:
Improving eyesight and tranquilizing the mind.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-sternocleidomastoid muscle-splenius muscle of head-longest muscle of head.
In the superficial layer, there are the branches of the great auricular nerve. In the deep layer, there are the deep cervical artery and vein.

Indications:
Eye diseases, Tinnitus, vertigo, and insomnia.

Prescription:
Combined use with YintangEXHN3 (EX-HN3), NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of insomnia; with FengchiGB20 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi (GB20)), QiuhouEXHN7 (EX-HN7) for treatment of optic atrophy; with SiduTE9(Sidu (TE9)), FengchiGB20 (GB20), YamenGV15 (Acupuncture Single Point Yamen (GV15)), NeiquanPC6 (PC6), TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of vertigo; and with ChengqiST1 (Chengqi (ST 1)), YuyaoEXHN4 (EX-HN4), SizhukongTE23 (Sizhukong (TE23)), JingmingBL1 (Jingming (BL 1)) for treatment of myopia.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to a depth of 0.5-1 cun deep, inducing local distension or electric shock-like sensation; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
