Acupuncture Point Xiaochangshu (BL27)
Location:
Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of spinous process of the 1st sacral vertebra, 1.5 cun apart from posterior median line laterally.
Function:
Regulating the function of the intestines, expelling the damp-heat, and strengthening the loins and legs.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-medial border of greatest gluteal muscle-tendon of erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the middle clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the inferior gluteal nerve and the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the related spinal nerves.
Indications:
Lumbago, sacro-iliilis, spermatorrhea, enuresis, enteritis, dysentery, Hemorrhoids, Constipation, hernia, pelvic inflammation, gonorrhea, and endometrial inflammation.
Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatmen of enteritis; with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatmen of pelvic inflammation; with ZhongjiCV3 (Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder), YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatmen of urocystitis; and with ZhonglushuBL29 (Zhonglushu (BL29)), BaihuanshuBL30 (Baihuanshu (BL30)) for treatmen of the pain in the loins and back.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.8-1.2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
