Acupuncture Point Pangguangshu (BL28)
Location:
Pangguangshu (BL28) Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of the 2nd sacral vertebrae, 1.5 cun apart from posterior median line laterally.
Function:
Clearing and regulating water passage, reinforcing the primordial qi, and strengthening the loins and knee.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-tendon of erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the middle clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the inferior gluteal nerve and the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the inferior gluteal nerve.
Indications:
Pain in lumbosacral region, Sciatica, Diarrhea, Constipation, dysentery, Diabetes, beriberi, endometrial inflammation, urocystitis, and enuresis.
Prescription:
Combined use with ZhongjiCV3 (Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for the treatment of urocystitis; with ChengshanBL57 (Chengshan (BL57)) for treatmen of lumbosacral neuralgia; and with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)), TaixiKI3 (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatmen of diabetes.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.8-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, sometimes radiating toward the buttocks; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
