(1) Reducing Technique with Rotating the Needle

Points: Tiantu (ren22), Tanzhong (CV 17), Juque (CV 14) and Hegu (LI 4).

 

Technique: A total of 35 cases of patients with esophagus cancer have been treated by reducing technique with rotating of the needle on the points, producing definite improvements in swallowing. Through the observation by X-ray, the movement of the esophagus is strengthened, the esophagus cavity is widened, so that the spasm is relieved, and food can quickly pass through.

 

(2) Even Reinforcing and Even Reducing Technique

Points:④ Geshu (BL17), Geguan (BL 46), Weishu (BL21) and Neiguan (PC6). ② Tiantu (Ren 22), Zhongwan (Ren 12), Zusanli (ST 36) and Gongsun (SP4).

 

Technique: The two groups of points are used in tum. For constipation, Dachangshu (BL 25), Tianshu (ST 25) and Fenglong (ST 40) are added; for chest pain referring to the back, Xinshu (BL15) and Ah-shi points on the chest and back are added; and for fullness and belching, Daling (PC7) is added. An even technique is used on the points, the needle being retained for 30 minutes. This method can greatly ease the obstruction due to esophagus cancer.

(3) Puncturing Jiaji Points

Points: Jiaji points from C4 to C6.

 

Technique: Keep the patient in a sitting position. Insert the needle one cun deep, and leave it for 20 minutes after the arrival of qi. Meanwhile, manipulate the needle twice. This method is used to treat swallowing pain due to inflammation of the esophagus.

 

(4) Puncturing Feishu (BL13)

Point: Feishu (BL 13) bilaterally

 

Technique: Keep the patient in a sitting position. Insert the needle 0.7 cun deep, and keep it in place for 20 minutes, manipulating it once every five minutes. This method is indicated for esophagus inflammation.

 

(5) Puncturing Futu (ST 32)

Points: Futu (ST 32) and Neiguan (PC6).

 

Technique: Puncture Futu (ST 32), when a sensation of electric shock traveling to the fingers should be felt. Lift and thrust the needle a few times, and then remove it. One side of the point is often needled. Neiguan (PC6) is supplemented to relieve the chest and reduce the adverse flow of qi. This method is indicated for cardiac spasm due to the upward adverse of flow of stomach qi.
