Our TCM clinical practice has showed that integration of Chinese medicine and western medicine is a very good choice for this disease. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, there are some patterns of syndrome that lead to leukopenia.

5. Deficiency of Healthy Oi and Excess of Pathogenic Factors
The disease is caused by physical, chemical, medical or biologic factors, while some diseases, congenital constitution as well as some unknown reasons may contribute to the decrease of the production of white blood cells, acceleration of their destruction or even abnormality of distribution. It may be divided into five types, namely, decrease of granulocyte multiplication, disturbance of granulocyte maturity, shortening of granulocyte survival time, abnormality of granulocyte distribution and compound type. According to its clinical manifestations, this disease is grouped into the categories of "xu lao" (consumptive disease) and "xu sun" (deficiency impairment), which is mostly caused by insufficiency of qi and blood, consumption of essence and blood, or deficiency of healthy qi leading to weakness of resistance.
