Essentials for Diagnosis
(1) There may be a family history or a contact history of physical and chemical injurant or drugs that may induce this disease.
(2) It usually has a gradual onset, with mild and nonspecific symptoms, such as lassitude, dizziness, palpitation, poor appetite, insomnia or no obvious constitutional symptoms. Acute agranulocytopenia has an abrupt onset, manifested as rigor, high fever, sore throat, headache, painful joints, extreme lassitude, etc.
(3) The patient may be sick with such signs as congestion and edema of pharyngeal mucosa, swollen tonsil and submaxillary lymph nodes. And necrotic ulcer of the mucosa of the mouth, throat, anus and rectum can also be seen in acute agranulocytopenia.
(4) Blood routine test: Leukocyte count decreases distinctly. Bone marrow smear reveals hyperplasia of the hematopoietic cells, especially the proliferation and differentiation of granulocytes.
(5) This disease should be distinguished from acute leukaemia, aplastic anaemia, myeloproliferative syndrome and malignant histiocytosis.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
