(1) Case history
The patient has marked causes of iron deficiency such as insufficient supply, malabsorption and increased need of iron and chronic bleeding.
(2) Clinical manifestations
The patient has gradual whitening of skin and mucous membrane, with lips and nail beds being more obvious, susceptibility to fatigue, poor appetite, dysphoria, distraction, declining intelligence, dizziness and tinnitus, etc. in eider children.
(3) Laboratory examinations
The disease is marked by decreased hemoglubin, generally lower than 110 g/L; red cell morphology has the marked manifestation of hypochromic microcyte, with MCHG lower than 31%, MCV lower than 80fl, MCH lower than 27pg, serum iron 10.7 μmol/L (60μg/dl) and total serum iron binding capacity more than 62.7 μmol/L (350 μg/dl) ; marrow extracellular iron increases markedly or disappears, with sideroblast lower than 15 %, red cell protoporphyrin more than 9/μmol/L (>500 μg/dl) and serum iron protein lower than 16 μg/
