Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The therapeutic principles of the disease are regulating the spleen and stomach, supplementing qi and nourishing blood as well as tonifying the liver and kidney.
1. Deficiency of qi and blood
Main symptoms and signs: Slightly pale lips, mouth, mucous membrance and nails, unruddy complexion, poor appetite, reddish tongue with whitish and thin fur, feeble pulse.
Therapeutic method: Strengthening qi to nourish blood, nourishing the liver and kidney.
2. Asthenia of the spleen and stomach
Main symptoms and signs: Sallow complexion, pale mouth, lips, mucous membrane and nails, poor appetite, lassitude, hypodynamia or loose stool, emaciation, pale tongue with whitish fur, thready and weak pulse and light red superficial venule of index finger.
Therapeutic methods: Strengthening the function of the spleen and stomach in transportation and transformation.
3. Asthenia of both the heart and spleen
Main symptoms and signs: Pale lips, mouth, skin, mucous membrane and nails, sallow complexion, yellowish, thin and dry hair, vertigo, listlessness, distraction, poor appetite, loose stools, palpitation with short breath worsened by moving, "pale tongue with whitish and thin fur, thready and weak pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Tonifying the heart and spleen, supplementing qi and nourishing blood.
4. Yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney
Main symptoms and signs: Pale complexion, lips, mouth and mucous membrane, anorexia or loose stools, fatigue of limbs, hypodynamia, listlessness, cry without force, retarded development, rough nails or koilonychia, pale tongue with whitish fur, deep and thready pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Strengthening the spleen and tonifying the kidney, nourishing kidney essence and blood.
