Acupuncture Point Tianliao (TE15)
Location:
Sit upright with drooping shoulders; at the end of the midiosuperior corner of scapula.

Function:
Expelling wind and dampness, and removing the obstruction from the channels and collaterals.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trapezius muscle-supraspinous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there and the supraclavicular nerve and the lateral curaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 1st thoracic nerve. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the dorsal scapular artery and vein, the branches or tributaries of the suprascapular artery and vein, and the suprascapular nerve.

Indications:
Tendinitis of the superaspinatus muscle, pain in the neck and nape and scapular region, and febrile diseases.

Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of stiff neck; and with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI 11) He-Sea Point) for treatment of periarthritis of the shoulder.

Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely, 0.3-0.8 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
