Acupuncture Point Jianliao (TE14)
Location:
1. Abduct the upperarm and keep it staying horizontally; two depressions appear in shoulder region, at the posterior depression. 2. Droop the shoulder; 2 cun vertically below the posterior border of extremitas acromialis claviculae, between acromion and greater tuberosity of humerus.

Function:
Expelling wind and dampness, and removing the obstruction from the channels and collaterals.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-deltoid muscle-teres minor muscle-teres major muscle-tendon of larissimus muscle of back.
In the superficial layer, there is the lateral suprachlavicular nerve. In the deep layer, there are the axillary nerve and the poster ircumflex humeral artery and vein.

Indications:
Periarthritis of the shoulder, hemiparalysis, pleuritis, and intercostal neuralgia.

Prescription:
Combined use with HuantiaoGB30 (Acupuncture Single Point Huantiao (GB30 )) for treatment of hermiparalysis; with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of intercostal neuralgia; with JianliaoTE14 (Jianliao (TE 14)), TianzongSI11 (Tianzong (SI 11)), YangguSI5 (Yanggu (SI 5) Jing-River Point) for treatment of painful arms.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly or obliquely downward, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
