Acupuncture Point Zhongliao (BL33)
Location:
Lie pronely; the midspot between XiaochangshuBL27( Xiaochangshu (BL27)) and the midline of the spine with the tip of the index finger, press the upper side of sacral horn ( the process of round bone as a small soybean ) on the upper side of the coccygeal with the little finger, place the middle and the ring finger between the index and the little finger equidistanly the spot were the tip of ring
finger touches is ZhongliaoBL33(Zhongliao (BL33)).

Function:
Regulating the function of the lower-jiao, strengthening the loins and knee, removing obstruction from the channels and collaterals.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the middle clunial nerves. In the deep layer, there are the posterior branches of the 3rn sacral nerve and lateral sacral artery and vein.

Indications:
Lumbago, lumbosacral arthritis, Sciatica, gonarthritis, Irregular Menstruation, hysteroptosis, endometrial inflammation, pelvic inflammation, leukorrhagia, gonorrhea, orchitis, ovaritis, oxytocic, induced labor, paralysis in the lower limbs, poliomyelitis sequelae, Constipation, uroschesis, vomiting, and apostaxis.

Combined use with HuantiaoGB30 (Acupuncture Single Point Huantiao (GB30 )) for treatment of sciatica; with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)) for treatment of lumbar muscle strain; with QuquanLR8 (Ququan (LR8) He-Sea Point) for treatment of orchitis; and with ShimenCV5 (Shemen (CV5) Front-Mu Point of Sanjiao), ChengshanBL57 (Chengshan (BL57)), TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), ZhongwanCV12 (Acupuncture Single Point Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach), DazhongKI4 (Dazhong (KI 4) Luo-Connecting Point), TaixiKI3 (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), ChengjinBL56 (Chengjin (BL56)) for treatment of constipation.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, sometimes radiating anteriorly; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
