Key points for diagnosis
The main points for diagnosis of eczema of external ear lie in polymorphic injuries of the external ear and the periotic skin such as flush, blister, exudate, erosion and crust.
(1) Skin injuries of the external ear (or the surrounding area) .At the stage of acute onset, the local skin has flush, blister, ulceration, exudate and crust; at the chronic stage, there exist pachynsis, pachylosis, desquamation, rhagades, lichenification, etc.
(2) The affected part is itching or scorching. If the tympanic membrane surface is involved, there exist tinnims and mild hypoacusis.
(3) The disease manifests as symmetrical pathological changes on the left and right sides.
(4) The disease is liable to repeated onset.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
