1. Syndrome of wind, dampness and heat
Main symptoms and signs: These are mostly seen at the acute stage. There exist red swelling, calor and pruritus. If the skin is scratched, pain may exist as well. The fur is white and thin and the pulse is floating and rapid.
2. Syndrome of dampness and heat of the liver and gallbladder
Main symptoms and signs: Local skin erosion, profuse exudate, severer pain, yellow turbid crust, dysphoria with restlessness, bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, reddish tongue with yellowish and greasy fur, taut and rapid pulse.
3. Syndrome of blood deficiency transforming into dryness
Main symptoms and signs: Rough, thickened and dry skin around the external ear with rhagades and itching, crust generating squame, lichenificated skin, reddish tongue with thin and white fur, thready and weak pulse.
