How danger is a cardiac arrhythmia?

Health Description
Health Consultation Description: I'm shocked, My girlfriend (who is 19) was complaining of heart pulpitations, sweating and dizziness today... I assumed it was a virus, but she said it's not that, but that she was diagnosed with Cardiac arrhythmia when she was 11. I just read it can lead to cardiac arrest and I am SO worried.

Condition analysis:
A cardiac arrhythmia is any heart rhythm that is not the normal sinus rhythm. There are very many cardiac arrhythmias. Some of these are completely benign, rarely cause symptoms, lead to no long term problems and require no treatment. On the opposite spectrum, there are other arrhythmias that can prove rapidly fatal. Your girlfriend has had these arrhythmias for 8 years and it doesn't sound like she had serious events like a cardiac arrest. This suggests to me that it is unlikely to be one of the rapidly fatal arrhythmias, unless she has a device called an implantable defibrillator to be able to treat this.

There are many causes of cardiac arrhythmias including abnormalities in the cardiac conduction system, congenital heart disease, diseases of the heart valves, previous heart attacks etc. There are also many different types of treatments for arrhythmias, from medications, to procedures to ablate abnormal parts of the heart, pacemakers, and implantable defibrillators. Even the most serious fatal arrhythmias can be prevented with the use of an implantable defibrillator. I know you are very scared for your girlfriend and I probably would be to if I were in your shoes. She should be seen by a Cardiologist to be fully evaluated and properly treated. It sounds like she may have been. The health system in the Philipines can take care of these types of issues fine in my experience. I hope this helps you. Good luck.

Instructions:
Potassium: Potassium is keeping your heart stable. If you are having low levels of potassium in your body, then this can cause muscle weakness and arrhythmia. Potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium are known as electrolytes. These arrhythmia home remedy are regulating the electrical impulses in the heart. If you are having low levels of potassium in your organism, then you are having increased chances to have arrhythmia (which is caused in the most cases by the electrolytes imbalance).
