Syndrome of cold stagnation in the liver meridian refers to the syndrome due to cold pain in the distributing region of liver meridian caused by stagnation of pathogenic cold in the liver vessels. This syndrome is usually caused by pathogenic cold attack, stagnation of qi and blood in the liver meridian, inhibited circulation of qi and blood as well as spasm of meridians and vessels.
Clinical manifestations:
Lower abdominal cold pain, sagging distension and pain of the pudendum, or contraction and pain of scrotum, aggravation with cold and alleviation with warmth, or cold pain in the vertex, cold limbs and body, light colored tongue with whitish and moist? fur, sinking and tense pulse or taut and tense pulse. Such symptoms are usually seen in hernia, orchitis, varicocele and migraine, etc.
Analysis of the symptoms:
Lower abdominal cold pain, sagging distension and pain of the pudendum, or cold pain in the vertex, or contraction and pain of scrotum, aggravation with cold and alleviation with warmth are caused by contraction and stagnancy of cold, cold attack on the liver meridian, spasm of meridians and vessels as well as stagnation of qi and blood; cold limbs and body is caused by pathogenic cold attack on the body and stagnation of yangqi from developing outwards; light colored tongue with whitish and moist fur, sinking and tense pulse or taut and tense pulse are the signs of internal exuberance of yin cold.
