Acupuncture Point Qiangu (SI2)
Location:
Clench the fist; on the anterior border of the 5th metacarpophalangeal joint, the ulnar end of the metacarpophalangeal transverse stria, at the dorso-ventral boundary of the hand.
Function:
Tranquilizing and refreshing oneself, removing obstruction in the channels and collaterals.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-base of proximal phalanx of 5th finger.
There are the dorsal digital nerve and the proper palmar digital nerve of the ulnar nerve and the ulnar palmar artery and vein of the 5th finger in this area.
Indications:
Numbness of the fingers, febrile diseases, Tinnitus, headache, reddish urine.
Prescription:
Combined use with TinghuiGB2 (Tinghui (GB2)) for treatment of nervous deafness; with FutuLI18 (Futu (LI 18)) for treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis; with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)) for treatment of prostatitis; and with HouxiSI3 (Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point), ShuifenCV9 (Shuifen (CV9)), JiexiST41 (Jiexi (ST 41)) Jing-River Point), JinmenBL63 (Jinmen (BL63)) Xi-Cleft Point) and ShenmaiBL62 (Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of epilepsy.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response : local sensation of distension and soreness; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
