Acupuncture Point Fuai (SP16)
Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate DahengSP15 (Daheng (SP15)) 4 cun laterally apart from umbilicus, 3 cun directly above DahengSP15 (SP15).
Function:
Regulating the flow of qi and recuperating the intestine.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-external oblique muscle of abdomen-internal oblique muscle of abdomen-transverse muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral cutaneous branches of the anlerior branches of the 7th to 9th thoracic nerves and the triburaries of the thoracoepigastric vein. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 7th to 9th thoracic nerves and their accompanying arteries and veins.
Indications:
Abdominal pain, indigestion, Constipation, and dysentery.
Prescription:
Combined use with Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of gastrospasm: with Diji (SP8) Xi-Cleft Point) for treatment of enteritis.
Methods: Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: loca sensation of distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture upwardly and deeply at the point on right, side or else the needle would penetrate the transverse fascia-the extraperitoneal axungia-the parietal peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the fundus of gallbladder and cause an injury to gallbladder.
