Explanation
Da Huang: Relaxing the bowels to sweep away the stagnancy of food or other pathogenic factors.
Jing Jie and Fang Feng: Being pungent in taste and disperse in nature, dispelling wind pathogen in the upper body.
Huang Qin: Clearing the fire of upper-jiao.
Zhi Zi: Clearing heat syndrome of heart, liver and stomach.
Chuan Xiong and Bai Zhi: Dispelling wind pathogen and relieving pain.
Ju Hua, Jing Jie Sui, Bo He, Lian Qiao: Expelling wind-heat of upper-Jiao.
