Woodblock Portrait of Sun Yikui
Sun Yikui was a native of Xiuning, Anhui Province, who flourished in the second half of the 16th century. His writings include Blade Pearl in the Red Stream (Chi shui xuan zhu; the title refers to a legend of the Yellow Emperor, 1595) and Medical Case Records (Sun Wenyuan yi an, earliest preface 1573). The former book is often praised for clarifying the terminology of medical disorders. This portrait of the author comes from Chi shui xuan zhu. (Collection of Library, Anhui College of TCM.)
