Source: Taiping Huimin Hejiju Fang (Benevolent Prescriptions from Taiping Pharmaceutical Bureau).

Ingredients:
No. 1 Subexiang (Resina Liquidambaris Orientalis) 30 g;
No. 2 Bingpian (Borneolum) 30 g;
No. 3 Shexiang (Moschus) 60 g; (Generally use artificial one)
No. 4 Anxixiang (Benzoinum) 60 g;
No. 5 Qingmuxiang (Radix Aristolochiae) 60 g;
No. 6 Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi) 60 g;
No. 7 Baitanxiang (Lignum Santali) 60 g;
No. 8 Chenxiang (LignumAquilariae Resinatum) 60 g;
No. 9 Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli) 60 g;
No. 10 Biba (Fructus Piperis Longi) 60 g;
No. 11 Ruxiang (Resina Olibani) 60 g;
No. 12 Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) 60 g;
No. 13 Hezi (Fructus Chebulae) 60 g;
No. 14 Shuiniujiao (Cornu Bubali) 60 g [originally Xijiao (Cornu Rhinocerotis) ] ;
No. 15 Zhusha (Cinnabaris) 60 g.

Administration:
Grind the above into fine powder and mix the powder with honey to make pills weighing 3 g each; take one pill each time and once or twice daily with warm boiled water before meals.

Actions:
Inducing resuscitation with aromatics, promoting the flow of qi to relieve pain.

Clinical Application:
This recipe is indicated for syndrome of constipation due to pathogenic cold, marked by sudden faint, trismus, unconsciousness, whitish fur and slow pulse; also indicated in abrupt pain of the heart and abdomen and even syncope. It is applicable to unconsciousness from epidemic encephalitis B, hepatic coma, angina pectoris of coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction and others which belongs to cold stagnation in the heart orifice. It may also be used for chest or abdominal pain, which pertains to stagnation of cold and qi in the interior.

Elucidation:
The syndrome results mostly from obstruction and disturbance of the mind due to cold, dampness, turbid substances, phlegm or stagnation of qi. It should be treated by inducing resuscitation and promoting flow of qi. Ingredients No. l, No. 3, No. 2 and No. 4 are all aromatics and used as monarch drug, effective in restoring consciousness. As minister drug, No. 5, No. 7, No. 8, No. 11, No. 9 and No. 6 are pungent, warm and aromatic in nature and bear the properties of removing obstruction to promote flow of qi, dispelling cold to relieve pain, eliminating turbid substances to regulate blood circulation and help the monarch drugs in restoring consciousness.

Ingredient No. 10 warms the middle-energizer to dispel cold and can enhance the effect of dispelling cold, relieving pain and removing obstruction when in compatibility with the above ten pungent aromatics. Ingredient No. 12 is capable of supplementing qi, invigorating the spleen, drying dampness and eliminating turbid substance, while No. 13 preserving qi by its astringent action. The use of No. 12 and No. 13 together with other aromatics can prevent the pungent aromatics from consuming vital-qi. Ingredient No. 14 has the effect of eliminating toxins from the heart, and No. 15 tranquilizing mind. The above five ingredients serve as adjuvant drugs in the recipe.
