Acupuncture Extra Point Zigong (CV19)
Location:
Supine position; 3 cun lateral to and 1 cun above the upper margin of pubic bone.
Function:
Warming the uterus, regulating menstruation, and regulating qi for relieving pain.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-aponeurosis of external oblique muscle of abdonmen-internal oblique muscle of abdomen-transverse muscle of abdomen-transverse fascia of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral cutaneous btanches of the iliohypogastric nerve and the superficial epigastric vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the iliohypogastric nerve and the branches or tributaries of the inferior epigadtric artery and vein.
Indications:
Prolapse of the uterus, Irregular Menstruation, dysmenorrhea, lumbar pain, hernia, pyelonephritis, cystitis, and orchitis.
Prescription:
Combined use with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) and YinbaiSP1 (Yinbai (SP 1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of functional metrorrhagia; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of hysteroptosis; with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), XuehaiSP10 (Xuehai (SP 10)) and YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatment of chronic pelvic inflammation; and with GuilaiST29 (Guilai (ST29)), GuanyuanCV4 (CV4), ZhubinKI9 (Zhubin (KI 9) Xi-Cleft Point), and SanyinjiaoSP6 (SP6) for treatment of prostatitis.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.8-1.2 cun deep or obliquely to toward the symphysis publis 1.5-2.5 cun deep; needling response: local soreness and distension, sometimes radiating toward the external genitals; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10-15 min.
