Acupuncture Point Ququan (LR8)
Location:
Flex the knee; in the depression at the medial end of the transverse popliteal stria.
Function:
Removing damp and heat, and regulating the functions of lower jiao.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-posterior border of sartotius muscle-posterior border of tendon of gracilis muscle-tendon of semimembranous muscle-medial bead of gastrocnemius muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the saphenous nerve and the great saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the medial superior genicular artery and vein.
Indications:
Prolapse of uterus, lower abdominal pain, retention of urine, Nocturnal Emission, pain in the external genitalia, pruritus vulvae, and pain in the medial aspect of the knee and leg.
Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Guanyuan Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of impotence and nocturnal emission; with Acupuncture Single Point Qihai for treatment of hysteroptosis; with Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of urinary retention; with Yingu (KI 10) He-Sea Point), YanglinquanGB34 (Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon) and Fuliu (KI7) Jing-River Point) for treatment of enuresis; with Yinbai (SP 1) Jing-Well Point), Yinxi (HT6) Xi-Cleft Point) and Yingxiang (LI 20) for treatment of epistaxis; and with ZhongfengLR4 (Zhongfeng (LR4) Jing-River Point), Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) and Shangqiu (SP 5) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of hernia.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 1-1.1 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
