Nourishing Yin and expelling heat

Indications
Syndrome due to deficient Yin and retained pathogens in the later stage of febrile diseases, marked by fever high in the night and low in the morning, subsiding of fever without sweating, reddened tongue with little coating, and thready rapid pulse; including such diseases with the above symptoms as chronic pyelonephritis, renal tuberculosis and summer fever of children.

Ingredients
Herba Artemisiae Annuae (Qinghao) 6 g,
Carapax Trionycis (Biejia) 15 g,
Radix Rehmanniae (Shengdihuang) 12 g;
Rhizoma Anemarrhenae (Zhimu) 6 g,
Cortex Radicis (Mudanpi) 9 g.

Explanation
Bie Jia: One of the principal drugs, being salty in flavor and cold in natrue, nourishing Yin and relieving fever of deficiency type.

Qing Hao: The other principal drug, being bitter and pungent in flavor and cold in nature, removing heat from the collaterals and inducing pathogens to go outside of the body to nourish Yin and subdue fever.

Sheng Di and Zhi Mu: Replenishing Yin, dispelling heat, assisting Bie Jia in erasing fever of deficiency type.

Dan Pi: Clearing away heat from blood, helping Qing Hao with the erasion of the heat hidden in the collaterals.

Administration
Decocted in water for oral dose to be taken twice.
