Medicine Stove
Ming Dynasty, Wanli era (1573-1620)
Bronze. L: 40 cm, h: 21 cm, w. 22 cm.This stove was used in the Ming Imperial Academy of Medicine. The main chamber has a double-layer wall and base. There is a smaller chamber on each side, connected to the space between the double layers as an expedient for controlling and maintaining heat. (Collection of Chinese Historical Museum.)
