Ningde Hall, Residence of Wu Youxing
Wu Youxing's On Warm-factor Epidemic Disorders (Wen yi lun, 1642) dealt with the pathogenic agents of exogenous epidemics. He argued that, unlike the Cold Damage group of febrile disorders, which were due to general environmental causes, some warm-factor diseases were due to distinct organisms that entered through the mouth and nose and caused specific syndromes. This was a new type of explanation in Chinese medicine. Wu's original residence, Ningde Hall, was located in Dianxin Village, Dongshan District, Wuxian County. The residence was originally rather large. Only the gatehouse and an inner hall still exist. The architecture and decoration are excellent examples of the vernacular style of Ming Jiangsu. In 1981, the Jiangsu Provincial Government allocated special funds to renovate the hall.
