Acupuncture Point Jugu (LI16)
Location:
Sit upright with drooping shoulder; on the posterior border of the acromioclavicular joint, between the forked bone structure formed by clavicle and the spine of scapula.

Function:
Clearing and activating the channels and collaterals.

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-acromioclavicular ligament-supraspinous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there is the lateral supraclavicular nerve. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the suprascapular nerve and the branches or tributaries of the suprascapular artery and vein.

Indications:
Pain and motor impairment of the upper extremities, pain in the shoulder and back.

Prescription:
Combined use with QianguSI2 (Qiangu (SI 2) Ying-Spring Point) and QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI 11) He-Sea Point) for treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis; and with BinaoLI14 (Binao (LI 14)) for treatment of tuberculosis of cervical lymph nodes.

Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension and soreness; moxibustion using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
